War is ugly and war is chaos. War is about destruction, killing, and war is about psychological devastation.

Children are the most vulnerable group in any war and we need to nourish and protect them.

Safety is a basic human need. There is no safety in a war zone. But we can make the children more resilient. We can foster safety from within even if there is no control over what is going on on the outside.

We can strengthen their minds.

War is about losing hope: Education is hope. Hope to build a future!

War is about not being able to see anything beautiful: So we create beauty.

War is about destroying nature: So we plant again.

War is about feeling helpless and disconnected: So we create connection.

“Education is freedom” -Paulo Freire

No one can take the will to learn, to education, from our children or from us. Our students are eager to learn, yearning for knowledge. They want to be educated to bring about change and a brighter future. We are giving them the freedom to learn.

We are planting seeds: In our children and together with our children in our garden project. Patience and joy as the little seeds start showing. Bit by bit, tiny little seeds of growth and hope.

The children are playing together, laughing and crying together, forming close bonds, with each other and with the teachers. The community is helping out with building and improving the tents, bringing water and food, with words of encouragement and support.

Our school project is like a garden: A garden for growth and education, for filling up our buckets with resilience and joy. Helping each other out to fill our buckets and nourish our hearts and minds.

We might not be able to control the war, but we can create a safe zone within us filled with love, knowledge, and connection.

Your solidarity helps us to keep this project alive and growing. Your words full of humanity and compassion to the students are making them stronger. You are the connection to the “outside”. Isolation is also a goal of war. Please don‘t close this window to us. Keep it open and the words of encouragement and love flowing.

Thank you everyone: For your donations, for seeing us, for your kind words.

Your help is beyond value. We couldn‘t do it without you!
